Tiffany Ruiz

Inducted into the Beta Zeta Theta Chapter in 2016, I later joined the Carolinas Region Alumni Chapter, Alpha Omega, in 2018. With both of my parents being Phi Theta Kappa members, I always knew I wanted to be inducted. After earning that honor, I chose to stay connected through alumni involvement and eventually received the opportunity to serve as an advisor.

As a former PTK member, I understand the dedication, sacrifice, and quiet perseverance it takes to maintain academic excellence. I am incredibly proud of the work our inductees do each day, especially the effort that often goes unseen. I see you, and I remember what it was like to be in your seat.

Clara Gagnon

Became a Chapter Advisor in 2017.

Hello everyone! My name is Clara Gagnon, and I am one of the Chapter Advisors for the Beta Zeta Theta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa! I’ve been teaching communication courses at Johnston Community College since 2014. I primarily teach COM 231 Public Speaking and COM 120 Intro to Interpersonal Communication. I have my B.S. in Communication from Appalachian State University and my M.A. in Communication from East Carolina University.

I’m originally from Snow Hill, N.C., but now reside in Goldsboro with my husband and two daughters. In my spare time, I enjoy baking and playing video games. I enjoy being a PTK Advisor because it gives me the opportunity to work with high-achieving students from many different areas across campus!
